My brothers and sisters, I'd like to tell you a story about a small boy, who was given an enormous task. He was only a child, but God had chosen him to do something great.
I'm speaking of course of the prophet Samuel, who was asked by God to anoint a new king of Israel. We can learn so much from this incredible story found in 1 Samuel chapters 1 through 3.
My first key point today is about obedience. We can learn from the example of Samuel that when God calls us to do something, it is important to obey without hesitation. As the Bible states in 1 Samuel 3:10, “The Lord came and stood there, calling as before, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’” Samuel immediately answered, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” By listening and responding obediently to God's call, Samuel was able to do great things for God's kingdom.
My second key point is about faithfulness. Through Samuel's example of faithfulness, we can understand that God rewards those who are loyal to Him. As the Bible says in 1 Samuel 2:30, "Those who honor me I will honor." Samuel was faithful to God and God honored him for it.
My final point is about perseverance. We can learn from the example of Samuel that it is important to remain steadfast in our faith even when times are difficult. As the Bible says in 1 Samuel 12:22, "The Lord will not abandon his people." Even when things seem impossible, we must have faith that God will be with us and guide us through our struggles.
My brothers and sisters, today we have seen how Samuel's obedience, faithfulness, and perseverance can teach us a powerful lesson. We must never forget that God is with us no matter what challenge we face. He will bless us if we remain loyal to Him and trust in His plan. As we go forth from this place today, let us be reminded that with God all things are possible.
