Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- Ephesians 6:17
When we use our gifts for good, we shine with God’s glory!

Good morning, My Friends,
I want to start off by telling you another story about a little boy who was walking through the woods one day. He came upon a large tree with a sign on it that said, “This tree is special.” He looked around and wondered why this tree was so special. After some thought, he decided to climb up the tree and find out. As he climbed, he noticed that the tree had different branches, each of a different size and shape. He realized that this tree was unique and special because it was made up of many different
parts, each of them adding to the beauty of the whole.
Just like that tree, God has made us unique and special too. Romans 12:4-5 says, “Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” We are all members of the same body and are all needed to make up the whole.
My first key point is that we all have unique gifts and abilities. In 1 Corinthians 12:11,13,18,27, we read, “All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. For in one Spirit, we were all baptized into one body…But in fact, God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be…Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” We all have unique gifts and abilities that are given to us by God. It’s our job to use those gifts to serve others and build up the church.
My second key point is that we are called to use our gifts in unity. Colossians 1:18 says, “And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.” We must use our gifts in unity with Christ at the center. We are all part of one body and must strive to bring unity and peace within it.
My third key point is that we must use our gifts for good. Ephesians 5:30 says, “For we are members of his body.” We are members of Christ’s body and should use our gifts to glorify him and bring glory to his name. We must strive to use our gifts for good rather than for selfish gain or personal gain.
Today I challenge you to look within yourselves and find the unique gifts that God has given you. Use those gifts in unity with others to bring glory to God’s name. Let’s strive for unity in purpose and thought as we use our gifts for good in service to others.
Remember: when we use our gifts for good, we shine with God’s glory!
Join us in spreading God's love and compassion to those in need.
