GOD'S WORD

28 Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So, Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

- Jesus Walking on Water -

December 13, 2023

Good morning, Brothers and Sisters! Today I want to talk to you about Jesus' walking on water. Have you ever seen a movie or read a book that was so captivating, that you couldn’t put it down? That’s how I feel when I read this story in the Bible. Let me tell you why.

First, the story of Jesus walking on water is a powerful reminder of God’s power and presence. In Mark 6:51, we read, “And he went up onto the boat, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves

beyond measure and wondered.” It was a reminder to the disciples that when we are in Christ, nothing can stop us. No storm, no wind, no wave is too big for us to handle when we are with God.

Second, this story also serves as a reminder of our faith. We are not always going to understand why God does what He does, but He knows what’s best for us. When Peter took his first step on the water, he was showing his faith in Jesus and his trust in God. We must remember that faith is not about understanding, it is about trusting.

Third, this story teaches us that no matter how hard the storm around us gets, Jesus is always nearby. In Matthew 14:25-26, it says, “And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, it is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.” Even in our darkest moments, Jesus is there to provide us comfort and strength.

My Brothers and Sisters, today we can learn so much from this amazing story of Jesus walking on water. No storm is too strong for us to face when we have faith in Jesus and trust in God. So, take courage and remember: No matter how rough the seas may get, Jesus will never leave your side.
