GOD'S WORD
"But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You"
- Psalm 5:11 KJV

My Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I have a story to tell. There was a man who was a bowman. He was the most skillful archer in the land and could hit targets that were miles away. His arrows were so precise, they never missed their target.
One day, he was challenged to hit a target that was as small as a needle. He accepted the challenge and grabbed his bow and arrow. He took aim and let the arrow loose. The arrow flew through the air, hitting its target right in the center. Everyone cheered for his accuracy.
But then something strange happened. The man felt sick. He felt like he had been poisoned. The poison of his own arrow had seeped into his spirit. It was a strange sensation that he could not explain.
My beloved Brothers and Sisters, this story is an analogy for a powerful truth found in scripture: the arrows of the Almighty are within us, and the poison thereof drinks up our spirit.
This scripture teaches us three key lessons about the power of God's arrows. First, when we are in the presence of God, His arrows are with us. Psalm 127:3-5 says, “Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.” Just as my friend had his bow and arrow to protect himself and those around him, we too have God's arrows of protection with us at all times.
Second, when we use God's arrows, we must be careful not to get hurt by the poison of our own arrows. The book of Proverbs says, “The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.” (Proverbs 25:23). Just like my friend felt the poison of his own arrow, we too can feel the poison of our words and our actions. We must be careful not to get hurt by our own words and actions.
Finally, God's arrows can bring healing to our spirit. The book of Isaiah says, “He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Just as my friend was healed from the poison of his own arrow, we too can be healed by God's arrows of mercy and grace.
My Beloved Brothers and Sisters, today we are reminded that the arrows of the Almighty are within us, and the poison thereof drinks up our spirit. But we can be comforted knowing that God is with us in our struggles and will use His arrows to bring us peace, healing, and protection. So let us remember: “His arrows will protect us; His love will never miss its mark!”
