My Brothers and Sisters, this story is a powerful reminder of the importance of consecrating ourselves to the Lord. Let me share with you three key elements of consecration.
First, consecration requires sacrifice. We read in Romans 12:1 that “we are to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.” As we dedicate ourselves to the Lord, we must be willing to give up our own desires and follow His will for our lives. This requires great courage and faith, but it is essential if we are to live our lives fully for His glory.
Second, consecration brings joy and peace. We often think of sacrificing for the Lord as a chore or burden, but it is actually a source of joy and peace. We read in Proverbs 3:5 that “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” When we surrender our lives to Him, we can rest in His provision and find true joy in His presence.
Finally, consecration requires continual renewal. We must remember that consecrating ourselves to the Lord is an ongoing process. We read in Hebrews 12:1-2 that “Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, cused on Him and remain dedicated to Him.
My Brothers and Sisters, consecration is an act of worship that requires sacrifice, brings joy and peace, and requires continual renewal. Let us commit today to living lives that are fully dedicated to the Lord, so that we can experience true joy and peace in Him. As we do so, let us remember the words of Joshua 1:9: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Consecrate your life to the Lord today and discover the transforming power of true dedication.
