2 "Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea."

 The Conclusion and Benediction

December 27, 2023

Reverend Danny Rhoades

My Brothers and Sisters, let me begin today’s devotional with a story. A young man once asked his grandfather, “What is the best advice you can give me?” His grandfather replied, “Live your life with the conclusion of the Bible in mind.”

As we come to the conclusion of the book of Revelation and of the whole Bible, let us live with this in mind that Jesus Christ is our King and Lord. He has given us the greatest gift of salvation and has conquered all evil. He has won the ultimate victory and has given us hope for a better tomorrow.

Today, My Brothers and Sisters, I want to share with you three key ideas of how to live with the conclusion of the Bible in mind.

Firstly, we must have a heart that is devoted to God. As Revelation 3:20 states, Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” Jesus is calling us to open our hearts to Him so that He may enter and help us to make wise decisions. We must have faith that He will guide us in what we do.

Secondly, we must have a lifestyle that is a reflection of Christ’s love. As 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 says, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” We are called to live our lives in a way that reflects Christ’s love - a love that is patient, kind, and hopeful.

Finally, we must have a spirit of hope. As Revelation 22:20 says, “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming soon.’” Jesus is coming back soon, and this should give us great hope in our lives. No matter what struggles or trials we face in life, we must have faith that God will take care of us and that He will be victorious over all evil.

My Brothers and Sisters, let us live our lives with the conclusion of the Bible in mind. Let us have hearts devoted to God, lifestyles that reflect Christ’s love, and spirits filled with hope. Let us live life knowing that Jesus has won the ultimate victory and that He will be here soon! Let us live with courage and faith in knowing that our King and Lord will never leave us nor forsake us. Amen!

Dear Lord, remind me that my life is not about me. It’s about You and Your greatness. Help me to look out for the interests of others over my own interests. Help me to step back and let Your loving ways lead the way. My ways often fall into selfishness, while Your ways look for the best for all. You humbled Yourself as a servant and even died so that many could find life in Your name. Help me to remember that the best way to lead other people is to serve and care for them. Being in front of people isn’t always the best place to lead from. A leader is most often in the back of a crowd so he can see who may need his help. Help me remember to step back and serve instead of waiting to be recognized. I pray all of this in the name of our Lord and Savor Jesus Christ, Amen
