GOD'S WORD

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the

words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

John 6:63 KJV

“A love that has the power to

break down any walls and open any doors.”
November 18, 2023

Good morning, Brothers and Sisters! Today I want to talk to you about Hosea Ch. 1 & 2. In particular, I want to discuss how God's love is always unconditional and unchanging. To help illustrate this point, I'd like to share a story with you.

One day, a teacher asked her students to bring an object that best represented their family. The first student brought a beautiful diamond necklace. Another student brought a picture of her family smiling happily together. The last student brought a worn out old shoe. The teacher asked the student why he chose the shoe and he replied, "Because no matter how much it gets worn down, my family will never stop loving me."

Just like the shoe, God's love is always unconditional and unchanging. In Hosea Ch. 1 & 2, we read of God's love for His people, even in the midst of their unfaithfulness. Despite the Israelites' constant disobedience and idolatry, God never stops loving them and shows mercy and grace.

The first key idea I want to discuss is that God is always loyal and faithful, even when we are not. As we read in Hosea Ch. 2:19-20: "I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord." Even when we fail to be faithful to Him, God remains loyal and faithful to us.

The second key idea I want to discuss is that God's grace is transformative. In Hosea Ch. 1:6-7, we read: "Then the Lord said to Hosea, 'Call him Jezreel, because I will soon punish the house of Jehu for the massacre at Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel. On that day I will break Israel's bow in the Valley of Jezreel.' " God's grace transforms us from being a people of destruction to being a people of hope and redemption.

The third key idea I want to discuss is that God's love is powerful enough to break down any walls. In Hosea Ch. 2:15, we read: "I will give her back her vineyards and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope." Even when we feel like there's no hope for us, God's love is powerful enough to break down the walls of despair and bring us into a place of peace and joy.

Brothers and Sisters today, I encourage you to open your hearts to God's unconditional and unchanging love. Just like a worn-out old shoe, His love will never stop loving you no matter what. So today, let us embrace His grace and be transformed through His powerful love! A love that has the power to break down any walls and open any doors - this is the love of our Lord!
